Selene had spent some time in Russia. Diana had never made it out there, but she had a rather romantic notion of it. Onion-shaped domes and grand parties. It was possible her whole concept of Russia was stuck in the early 1900s. She found the movie Anastasia entirely too romantic. How was it possible for Dimitri, a cartoon character, to be so hot?

It was unfair, somehow.

But she coughed when he brought up the mythology around her own name. "I'm no goddess," she whispered, looking down to concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other. "I'm no one."

Definitely not at all the Cainite messiah. Not the Abel.

She was just a feather on the wind. Why didn't people understand that?
